Every year brings a parade of products into the Macworld offices—hardware and software, flagship products and obscure gems, programs produced by giant companies and software coded by one person working out of an apartment. And there are usually one or two surprises from Apple as well.
It’s quite an impressive array of products—but a few in particular always stand out from the crowd. It’s these products that meet our high standards for quality, innovation, or value—and in some cases, all three. Because of that, they win some well-deserved time in the spotlight as winners of our annual Editors’ Choice Awards.

You’ll also find a few products that you might not have heard of before this year but that nevertheless have earned the right to walk alongside some of the bigger names. And, in a year which saw Apple head off in new directions, some of our Editors’ Choice nods go to worthy winners that are off the beaten path. Let’s explore our favorites—and maybe some of yours—from the past year.
