Magic: The Gathering game coming to Mac

Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast has announced plans to offer a new game based on its popular Magic: The Gathering franchise on the Mac. The game will be developed by Mind Control Software.

Magic: The Gathering is a strategy card game that's been around since the early '90s. In Magic: The Gathering, you assume the role of a powerful wizard who can summon creatures to fight on your behalf. Magic: The Gathering players build card decks of special, collectible cards that can be used or traded with other players.

Wizards of the Coast makes a variety of starter decks, theme packs and booster packs for use with the real-world game. It's also spawned an active online version that current has more than 350,000 players.

Wizard of the Coast's announcement stops short of offering any details about what the new Mac/PC game is going to look like or how it's going to play. The company indicated that specific details on the game will be announced at a later date.
