Opacity adds SVG support

Like Thought on Wednesday announced the release of Opacity 1.1, an update to their screen graphics creation tool for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, Opacity costs $89. A demo is available.

Opacity helps users generate resolution-independent graphic images and icons for use on the Web and in applications. It supports vector graphics, layers, and filters, and includes variables, templates, “factories” and other capabilities.

Opacity 1.1 sports support for SVG graphics, so you can create vector graphics for the Web. A screencast has been added to help new users understand how to use Opacity, as well. A new Inner Shadow effect has been added, also.

Interface improvements have been made. The toolbar now uses dynamically generated images and a new grid is available. Factories now support multipage PDF images, gamma stripping in PNG images, and automatic uploading using Cyberduck. You can also extend Factories with applications and scripts that can process the images. Four new templates have been added.

Opacity requires Mac OS X v10.5.2.
