Expo: ModelBaker rapid app development software debuts

Widget Press on Monday announced ModelBaker 1.0, a new rapid application development tool for Mac OS X. It costs $399 for a single-user license. Macworld Expo attendees will find Widget Press in booth 1438.

ModelBaker helps users create applications for the Web, iPhone, iPod touch and Google Android devices. It requires no programming knowledge, according to Widget Press — it can be used to build applications from scratch.

ModelBaker is aimed at users who want to quickly prototype their ideas, experiment and visualize, and then output the results to a Web or iPhone app. You can create style sheets, images and themes, and customize your ideals further using a text editor.

ModelBaker uses the CakePHP 1.2 framework and generates PHP 4.3.2 and 5 non-encrypted compliant code. Web apps are W3C XTHML/HTMLCSS-validated markup and compatible with any modern browsers.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 or later, Intel Core Duo 1.25GHz or faster, 500MB hard disk space, 1GB RAM, 1024 x 768 resolution and Internet connection.
