Bare Bones Software on Monday announced the release of BBEdit 9.1.1, a maintenance update to their text editing software. BBEdit 9.1.1 is a free updated for registered version 9 users; BBEdit costs $125 for an individual user license.

BBEdit is optimized for HTML and text editing. It’s aimed at Web developers and software developers who want to edit, search and manipulate text. Features include grep pattern matching, search and replace across multiple files, syntax coloring and function navigation.

Improvements in BBEdit 9.1.1 include a rewritten FTP implementation designed to offer improved performance and reliability. Bare Bones claims users with dual core or multiprocessor machines may see additional performance benefits. A new antialiased code editing font (Consolas Regular) is now included; file filtering supports a new term, “File Path;” a new Text Files preference pane option has been added; and much more. The complete list of changes has been posted online.
