Atempo Digital Archive expands Mac support

Atempo has announced the release of Atempo Digital Archive 2.3, file archiving software aimed at the enterprise. It’s expected to be released publicly on April 27, 2009, though it’s making an early debut at this week’s National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Atempo Digital Archive (ADA) is intended to provide centrally-administered archiving for enterprise environments. The software collects and tags metadata to help find information after it’s been archived, and archives can be personal or shared, reorganized or transferred depending on changes within the business. ADA works with any type of storage media and using a standard format. The software is used in media and entertainment businesses, by healthcare, government, financial services and educational sectors.

This new release offers full support for the Mac and new Mac-specific administration features. New support has been added for Apple’s Xsan and other shared file systems, including Quantum StorNext. ADA also integrates with Final Cut Server, making it easier for Final Cut users to move data into archival media as needed.

New support has also been added for EMC’s Celerra NAS used as primary storage. ADA can now leave “stubs” on the EMC Celerra when files have been moved to archive media.
