Apple on Monday released QuickTime 7.6.2 for Mac and Windows. The update is available for download from Apple’s Web site and through the Software Update system preference.
QuickTime 7.6.2 is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users, and “includes changes that increase reliability, improve compatibility and enhance security,” according to a statement from Apple.
Apple notes that the software improves support for iTunes 8.2, also released Monday. Compatibility has been improved with Apple ProRes media — a high-definition video compression format Apple supports in Final Cut Studio.
Apple has also made a series of security improvements in this release of QuickTime — it has fixed problems associated with the handling of Sorenson 3 video files, FLC compression files, PSD images, and more. In total, ten security exploits have been corrected. More details are available from Apple’s Web site.
