Report: Chrome for Mac Beta may appear in 'early December'

The developer preview versions of Google’s Chrome Web browser for OS X have slowly been improving to the point where they probably won’t kernel panic your machine five minutes after launch. But still, we don't have an official release for the Mac, and goshdarnit, Sergey’s been asking for it since last year. What gives?

Well, according to a post on Google’s Chromium Extensions mailing list, it sounds as though a beta release of the browser is expected as early as next month. Google Chrome Product Manager Nick Baum is urging extension developers to update their products to use the new UI in advance of “our Beta launch in early December.” And we all know that, in Googlespeak, “beta” means “good enough for use on a daily basis.”

So, it sounds like Chrome for the Mac might be ready just in time for the winter holidays. So load up your party cracker, get that noisemaker ready, and, if you’re like me, get ready to wait by the menorah for the download to surface on Google’s site. Soon will be the day that we can all browse the Web like these charming comic book folks.
