Camera Plus Pro to add video features to multipurpose camera app

In a crowded field for multipurpose apps, how do you stand out from the crowd? For Global Delight, the answer is to branch out into video. At Macworld Expo this week, the app maker is demonstrating an upcoming release of its Camera Plus Pro that will feature video recording alongside the app’s multitude of camera enhancements and image-editing features.

The planned release—version 2.0 of Camera Plus Pro—is currently in beta, with a launch date targeted for the end of this month. When it arrives on the App Store, Camera Plus Pro 2.0 will let users record full-resolution videos from within the app—not just with the iPhone 3GS’s advanced camera, but in older iPhone models as well. To demonstrate the new feature, Global Delight posted a quick 14-second snippet of video shot with Camera Plus Pro shot as during the flight out to Macworld Expo on its YouTube channel:

Once they've shot video, users will also be able to apply geotags to videos with Camera Plus Pro and upload them to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

Until version 2.0 arrives, there’s still Camera Plus Pro 1.3, which combines a number of image editing features with improvements to the iPhone’s built-in camera. The $2 photo app lets users tag pictures for easier image management and select multiple photos at once for tagging, uploading, and sharing. Camera Plus Pro also includes a privacy feature that lets users lock photos away from prying eyes. Editing capabilities in the app include the ability to adjust brightness, saturation, hue, sharpness, and contrast; apply filters; and add a copyright and date to images.

A free version, Camera Plus, comes with the zoom, flash, cropping, uploading, and black-and-white filter features found in Global Delight’s paid app.
