Although we generally don't get excited about flip cases for the iPod mini -- they tend to add undesired bulk to the mini's svelte frame -- there are a few exceptions, among them Marware's TrailVue. Like Pacific Design's iPod mini Flip Case, the TrailVue provides both good protection and an attractive design. Made of ballistic nylon with rigid inserts to keep your iPod safe from bumps and bruises, the TrailVue is available in seven dual-color combinations -- one color for the main body and another for a stylish "racing stripe." And unlike the Pacific Design case, which is retro-cool, Marware's offering both looks and feels rugged and sporty -- you won't be afraid to knock it around, even with your iPod mini inside.

To keep the case thin, the part beneath the flip cover that holds the iPod mini is made of thin, clear plastic -- when you open the case you see the entire body of the iPod, and when the flip case is closed, the color of your iPod mini shows through the sides. The flip cover is secured via a Velcro flap, leaving only the headphone/remote jack exposed. However, when you open the case you have full access to all controls and jacks including the dock connector.

The TrailVue also comes with one of our favorite features of all Marware cases: the Multidapt clip. This accessory mount on the back of the case can be used to connect a number of different accessories, from the included belt clip to dash mounts to bicycle handlebar mounts to lanyard attachments, and makes Marware cases some of the most versatile on the market.
