USB extension cable for iPod shuffle

It's great that the iPod shuffle can plug directly into any USB port on your Mac or PC, but it also presents a few challenges for some users: What if your only USB ports are located on the back of your computer? Or what if your computer is in a place where there's no room for an iPod shuffle to stick out of the USB port? Or what if you've got a computer (such as an older iMac) with USB ports that won't even accommodate an iPod shuffle?

You need a USB extension cable, and DLO's USB Dock Cable is just that -- a 4-foot cable with a USB plug at one end and a USB jack at the other. However, at $20, it's significantly more expensive than a generic USB extension cable from your local electronics store. What makes DLO's cable worth the extra cash? DLO (rightly) points out that the Dock Cable's jack fits the iPod shuffle perfectly, both physically and aesthetically, and that the gray cable and white plug also match your iPod; most standard USB cables will look, well, like a cheap USB cable. DLO has also added adhesive Velcro pads so that you can "mount" the cable's jack on your desk or computer instead of having it lying loose on your desk. Still, it's $20; you'll have to decide for yourself if the better appearance and Velcro are worth the price premium over a generic USB extension cable.

(Since the USB Dock Cable is really just a USB extension cable, it will also work with Apple's USB dock connector cable for full-size and mini iPods, as well as with any other USB device.)--Dan Frakes
