Handwriting is a simple iPhone app that enables you to draw simple messages or figures with your finger.

Quick Draw: It’s easy to use your finger to jot down a message or sketch with Handwriting; undoing your work is not so easy, however.

This $1 app from Cocoa Box Design is as simple as it sounds. Even toddlers would instinctively know how to use this app. To create a message or a picture, you simply draw your finger across the white canvas that appears on your iPhone’s screen. While the screen real estate may be small, you can give yourself more room by dragging two fingers across the screen to reveal a fresh plot of canvas.

Once you’ve finished creating your masterpiece, you can e-mail it to your friends, post it on Facebook, or tweet it out to your Twitter followers.

There’s a downside to Handwriting, though—its undo function. To undo your work, you have to shake your iPhone or iPod touch in a manner similar to erasing the work on an Etch-a-Sketch. Unfortunately this method does not work well. In testing Handwriting, I was unable to undo or erase any entries by shaking my iPhone. Previously, the app used a “tap with two fingers to undo” input method and many reviewers in the App Store have asked for its return in the next app update.

Handwriting is a simple app that allows you to send an e-mail with a personal touch or stave off boredom while waiting in line somewhere. It’s simple fun that would be even better with an improved undo capability.
