Loopbag's Transit iPad Case is one of the more unique bags I’ve seen in a while. It has solid construction, generous storage, and an interesting compartment design that makes your stuff more accessible.

The Transit bag looks as if a vertical messenger bag had a child with a church bell. It can stand flat on the ground, and it has plenty of space inside for magazines and a book or two. Unfortunately, the word "iPad" in the bag's name is a little deceptive: Loopbag should have called this an “iPad/netbook” bag, because the gadget compartment is wide enough for the thickest of netbooks with screens up to 12 inches in size. In fact, the compartment comfortably fits both my iPad and my wife’s Apple iPad Case-encased iPad at the same time. A Velcro-fastening strap spans the top of the compartment for a little security, but beware: if you give this bag a shot, that your iPad will swim around a bit.

The most interesting aspect of the Transit bag is its dual zippers for the main compartment. A zipper around the front of the bag offers easy access to the three storage pockets on the inside, while a similar zipper around the back of the bag takes you straight to the iPad/netbook compartment. While testing this bag, I’m not sure I found this design to be all that useful since it isn’t that thick of a bag. The design might make more sense on a thicker notebook backpack designed to carry everything but the kitchen sink, but given the Transit iPad Case’s relatively thin design, it just doesn’t seem necessary.

Overall, the Transit is a nice bag, though perhaps a little gimmicky. Build quality is great, and the detachable shoulder strap sports a very comfortable pad. I think Loopbag is shooting a tad high by pricing the Transit in "premium" territory, but if you’re looking for a unique, stylish, and well-built bag, this is a decent choice.
