“Cheese, Gromit!” is the first thing that came to mind when I heard that Telltale Games is bringing a game based on Wallace & Gromit, a classic stop-motion animated series, to the iPad.
Wallace & Gromit: The Last Resort will follow Sam & Max’s footsteps to the iPad, arriving as an “episodic interactive entertainment game.” Players will help Wallace, a well-intentioned but absent-minded inventor, and Gromit, his surprisingly intelligent-yet-unwilling canine sidekick, to solve a who-done-it mystery.
A storm ruins the pair’s vacation plans, so they decide to build a makeshift resort in Wallace’s 62 West Wallaby basement. Naturally, the resort turns into a popular business, but Wallace and Gromit are called into action when one customer is clocked in the head by an unknown assailant.
With your iPad in hand and Wallace’s new “Deduct-o-matic” invention on call, you’ll have to help the two get to the bottom of this family-friendly $5 App Store mystery.
Wallace & Gromit: The Last Resort should be available soon in the App Store for $5 and will require iPhone OS 3.2 or later. It will mark the second effort from Telltale to land on the App Store; in April, the company launched Sam & Max, another multiple episode game, for Apple’s new handheld device.
