JBL releases pair of portable speaker docks for iPod, iPhone

If you thought weaves were just for your hair, think again. JBL’s newly released On Stage IV and On Stage Micro III iPod and iPhone docking stations sport a new wavy design the company affectionately calls “the Weave.”

The new On Stage units are compact and versatile, and should feel at home on your desk or kitchen counter, as well as at your next tailgate party. They both feature albuminum-domed transducers that deliver accurate, high-frequency response, and a slipstream port design that optimizes bass output while minimizing distortion. They also come with an IR remote with an effective range of 15 feet.

The $150 JBL On Stage IV (pictured) features four Odyssey transducers, which emit rich and clear sound optimized for most listening environments. It includes an AC adapter and can also be powered by six AA batteries that will provide up to 16 hours of normal play.

The $100 JBL On Stage Micro III, with its smaller footprint, is more travel-friendly than the On Stage IV. It’s equipped with two Odyssey transducers, which allow it to deliver solid bass and clear sound, and it can be powered by an included AC adapter or by four AAA batteries that will provide up to 24 hours of continuous play.

Both models are compatible with all docking models of iPod and iPhone as well as sporting a standard 1/8-inch auxiliary port for non-Apple devices.
