60 Minutes for iPad offers extensive archives

Fans of Mike Wallace’s ambush interviews can rejoice: CBS Mobile has launched 60 Minutes for iPad, a new paid app that features an extensive archive of video segments from the venerable news program’s 42-year history.

The app, which debuted this week, features all the video segments and stories from each week’s broadcast show. It also offers previews of the next week’s show, as well as 60 Minutes Overtime, a weekly series of original online videos with new angles on 60 Minutes reports, conversations with correspondents, and highlighted moments from older shows.

App users will also be able to search the 60 Minutes archive for stories from past seasons, browsable either by category or correspondent name. Users can also share video segments via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter.

60 Minutes for iPad is $5, and compatible with iPads running iOS 3.2 or later.
