The Onion brings laughs to iPad

Smart comedy about the news is now available in tablet form—the net’s premiere source for fake news, The Onion, has unveiled its iPad app.

The Onion Tablet debuted Friday—April Fool’s Day, as you may recall—in the App Store. The app is essentially a repackaging of content already found at The Onion’s Website, but the parodic news organization suggests the iPad’s multitouch capabilities add a new dimension to the offerings: “Swipe it, poke it, berate it, and it reacts accordingly,” the creators say.

The app includes satirical stories, pictures, and videos from The Onion. Unlike the Website, however, there is no access to the A.V. Club, The Onion’s non-parodic review of music, movies, TV, books, and video games.

The Onion Tablet is free, and compatible with iPads running iOS 4.2 or later.
