Apple TV 4.4.4 fixes video playback error

If your Apple TV has been displaying error messages instead of playing certain types of content recently, a software update released Thursday should provide some welcome relief.

Apple TV Software Update 4.4.4 for the second-generation Apple TV doesn’t add any new features, as previous updates have, but it does offer general performance and stability improvements, including “a fix for an issue that displayed an error when playing some video content.”

I’ve encountered such an error many times while playing content from authorized Home Sharing computers on my home network, so I’m looking forward to installing the update.

To install the update on your Apple TV, navigate to Settings -> General, and then choose Update Software.
