Sonnet offers PCIe Gigabit Ethernet card

Sonnet Technologies on Thursday introduced its Presto Gigabit PCIe Basic, a $39.95 PCI Express (PCIe) expansion card compatible with the Mac Pro and later-edition Power Mac G5s equipped with PCI Express slots.

The card provides a single Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000baseT) Ethernet interface with full and half duplex communication support and a low profile mounting bracket.

These devices already have Gigabit Ethernet built in, so this is suitable for adding a second port or replacing a damaged interface without needing to replace the entire motherboard.

It works with Mac OS X v10.5 or later.
