It took the Santa Clara County Fire Department about two and a half hours to extinguish a fire that broke out at one of the buildings on Apple’s Cupertino, Calif. campus, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.
Media reports placed the three-alarm fire at the Apple Six building, a two-story structure on Valley Green Drive across from Apple's headquarters at Infinite Loop.
The fire started at 10 p.m. Tuesday in an area where construction crews were working on a heating and air condition system on the roof of the building, according to Daron Pisciotta, a fire captain with the Santa Clara County Fire Department. "The fire, per se, wasn't really that big," Pisciotta told Macworld. However, the area did suffer smoke and water damage.
Apple representatives were not immediately available to shed any light on if the company lost any valuable information.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation Wednesday, with fire investigators on the scene. However, Pisciotta said, preliminary indications are that the fire is "looking accidental."
