‘Call of Cthulhu’ game headed to iPhone

Digital Jokers, a Spain-based developer of mobile games, has announced plans to bring a graphical adventure game based on H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary horror stories to the iPhone. “Call of Cthulhu: The Darkness Within” is due for release sometime in September, according to the developer.

In conjunction with its subsidiary Mayhem Studio, Digital Jokers is adapting “Call of Cthulhu,” which it has already developed for other mobile platforms. This is the company’s first iPhone product, according to a press release.

Call of Cthulhu follows the story of a group of archaeologists and paleontologists from Miskatonic University who are sent to explore the ruins of an ancient city that appear in the sands of Egypt following a violent earthquake. The game, billed as “the first graphic adventure for mobiles,” is based on the award-winning role playing game published by Chaosium.
