Midway plans five iPhone game releases this month

Famed game publisher Midway announced Tuesday that it will release five new games for the iPhone and iPod touch later this month. Each game will be priced at 99 cents, or you can buy all five for $3.99.

If you’re looking for Mortal Kombat or Wheelman for the iPhone, though, you’re going to be disappointed: The new iPhone games are all pulled from the “TouchMaster” stable, which originated on the Nintendo DS handheld game console.

The games include Spellwinder, a word search game in which adjacent letters must be used to create a word; Dice King, a dice-swapping puzzle game where you swap two adjacent dice to form matching combinations of three or more; Prismatix, a hexagonal matching game in which you eliminate gems by matching a color sequence on a wheel; Combo 11, where you eliminate cards from a deck; and Carpet, a new take on Solitaire, in which you move all cards to the foundations where the aces have already been dealt, and where “holes on the carpet” are filled by cards from the waste pile.
