iWork ‘08 apps get ‘general compatibility’ update

Apple on Monday released updates to Keynote, Pages and Numbers, the applications it combines in its iWork suite. The versions affected by this update are the applications included in iWork ‘08, not Apple’s more recently released iWork ‘09.

iWork combines Keynote, Apple’s presentation software; Pages, a word processing and page layout application; and Numbers, a spreadsheet application.

The updates are available for download from Apple’s Web site and through the Software Update system preference pane. They update Keynote, Pages and Numbers to version 4.0.4, 3.0.3 and 1.0.3 respectively.

Each of the updates “address general compatibility issues,” according to Apple, which declined to offer any more specific information about what’s changed in Keynote and Pages. The update to Keynote, however, fixes compatibility issues with Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2008, as well.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4.10 or Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later.
