If you use the server edition of Snow Leopard, you will want to take note of a couple of updates recently issued by Apple. The first one is a 21MB patch that reduces the memory footprint of the operating system’s mail services and enhances their ability to recover from interruptions in Directory Services.
The second update (also available for OS X 10.5 Server) concerns Xsan, Apple’s distributed filesystem offering. The new version, 2.2.1, improves the reliability and stability of the product and provides enhanced versions of its integrity checking and repair tools; it weighs in at 40MB. Apple has also released an uninstaller that can be used to remove Xsan from a server.
Both sets of updates are available either through Software Update, through the command-line softwareupdate tool or from the Apple Website as standalone downloads.
