Report: Apple director York hospitalized

Updated article posted here.

Jerome York, a 13-year-veteran of Apple’s board of directors, has been hospitalized after suffering a brain aneurysm, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The Journal, citing a person familiar with the matter, says that York is “in very serious condition” at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Mich.

Bloomberg also reported on York’s hospitalization, saying the former automotive executive was listed in critical condition after collapsing in his home Tuesday night.

York, 71, joined Apple’s board of directors in 1997. He spent 30 years in the automotive industry, serving as the chief financial officer of Chrysler for three years in the early 1990s. York also served as chief financial officer at IBM from 1993 to 1995. He’s currently the CEO of Harwinton Capital, a private equity firm.

Apple did not return a call asking to confirm the Journal report as this article was posted.

Updated to note that York was CFO of Chrysler in the 1990s.
