Freeverse's CrossCards game gets Carbonized

CrossCards
Freeverse Software just brought the Mac world an updated version of its puzzle game Enigma, complete with new graphics and Mac OS X compatibility. Now the company has updated its game CrossCards for Mac OS X, as well.

CrossCards is a card game and a board game combined. It mixes the rules of poker together with another Freeverse favorite, X-Words (their take on Scrabble). Users score hands for getting various combinations, like flushes, full houses, and three of a kind; they can then increase points by placing cards on Double and Triple score tiles, and building off each others' hands -- just like in X-Words.

The game supports play for one to four players on the same computer, and features computer-controlled animated, talking opponents if you prefer. Users can customize the board, decks and opponents, as well. The game also provides assistance to beginners by recommending moves and automating card sorting.

Available as US$14.95 shareware, CrossCards 2.0 requires Mac OS 8.6 or later, including Mac OS X.
