Aeronautic Pictures: Built with video enthusiasts in mind, the Indie i5 (iPhone 5; $180) is a special mount designed to provide excellent stability and framing capabilities when you shoot movies with your handset. The precision-machined holder positions your iPhone in such a way that the camera’s lens is centered with your arm, making pointing and tracking much more intuitive and fluid. It also doubles as a tripod mount.
Domeskin: The company’s collection of skins (iPhone 5; $20) includes dozens upon dozens of different models, each with matching wallpaper for your handset’s screen. Unlike traditional vinyl skins, however, Domeskin’s offerings are made using a special three-dimensional technology that wraps your phone in a soft layer that protects from bumps and scratches and even helps improve your grip. A special adhesive backing is designed to leave no residue when you decide to remove the skin from your phone.
Griffin Technology: The Woogie (iPhone 4, 4S, and 5; $25) is back—in its third iteration—with a design that fits Apple’s latest iPhones and iPod touch models. Available as either Zee (blue) or Fee (purple), this loveable case is built to withstand the kind of destruction and misfortune that can can only accompany hurricane-strength weather and small children. Griffin also offers a companion app designed to keep the little ones entertained with a variety of games and activities.

Jivo: This company specializes in custom cases (iPhone 5; $30) that are created to order based on content that you provide—for example, your favourite photograph or design pattern. The company prints each case individually on a high-resolution system for excellent color fidelity. You can even design your case in real time, directly in your Web browser.
If custom is not your thing, Jivo also carries the Alu Case (iPhone 5; price unavailable), a high-quality aluminium shell available in anodized black or natural metal; the Flip Folio (iPhone 5; price unavailable), a synthetic-leather case that provides all-around protection for your phone thanks to a screen cover that can be quickly flipped out of the way to take a call; and the Ventana (iPhone 5; price unavailable), a clear back shell with soft, rubberized edges that provide an enhanced grip while protecting your phone from bumps and scratches.
Moshi: The Origo (iPhone 5; $25) is a dual-tone silicone case that protects your iPhone from bumps and scratches and provides an improved grip while still sliding effortlessly in and out of your pockets. The case comes in white or black, and it uses a special honeycomb architecture for added shock protection.
Precise Biometrics: The Tactivo (iPhone 4 and 4S; $249) cannot be called your everyday case: In addition to protecting your iPhone from bumps and scratches, it incorporates a government-regulation-compliant smart-card reader, as well as a fingerprint scanner. As such, it is ideal for security applications in which it’s necessary to be able to quickly identify individuals in a mobile setting. An accompanying identification app produced by Thursby Software can be had for free from the App Store.
