Expo Notes: Chef Sleeve lets you cook with your iPad, worry-free (video)

If you asked me what I expected to see at Macworld/iWorld this year, it wouldn’t have been plastic lemons, flour, and cookware. And yet, that’s exactly what I wound up stumbling into at the Chef Sleeve booth (#1012) on Thursday. The year-and-a-half-old company does in fact offer kitchen accessories—but these kitchen accessories are iPad- and iPhone-themed.

Chef Sleeve set up a veritable test kitchen on the show floor to demonstrate its wares, which include a dishwasher-safe iPad stand ($35), Epicurean cutting board and iPad stand ($70), and recyclable iPhone, iPad, and Kindle sleeves ($16 - $20). When I first stopped by the booth, company representatives were busy spraying a sleeved iPad mini with water to the delight of the crowd; as I’ve noticed elsewhere on the floor this year, people seem to love seeing iPads put in precarious situations.

As a budding cook whose third-generation iPad has become my de-facto recipe-holder, I loved the feel and handle of these accessories—they’re clearly designed for the chef first, rather than tech shoe-horned into the kitchen.
