Zombies are everywhere—not everywhere, as in “We’re surrounded, head to the roof!” Everywhere, as in all over movies, apps, games, tshirts, comic books, books, tattoos, toys. And I’m not complaining. I rock my “I heart Zombies” bumper sticker just as much as any other Romero-loving, Walking Dead-reading, World War Z-watching, Plants vs Zombie-playing zombie superfan.
So, obviously, I was eager and wiling to check out Zombie Fish Tank, an iOS game where you are an undead fish who is looking to take revenge on the scientists who raised you from the dead via a series of terrifying experiments that are alluded to in the opening roll. In order to succeed at this goal, you must tilt and shift your phone to swim your little undead avatar into the path of smaller fishies, which he then eats. You will have to avoid the larger fish, however, as they will eat you.
It’s a simple enough design for a game, but plenty of fun to play. It looks great; the graphics and details are all nicely done, however, it does become a bit cluttered with a variety of features and options hanging around the sides of the screen. Likewise, the menus are a bit cluttered to sift through because there are so many options and (optional) in-app purchases. Ignore all that and you still get a fun game with a lot of levels, challenges, bonuses, and, of course, zombies.
