Just in case you were worried that Apple was losing some of its luster, the latest brand studies from Harris put the company in the top spots for Computers, Tablets, and Mobile Phones. But they didn’t even place for “delicious scones!” The tragedy!
Apple’s apparently got a Boston-based team working on speech tech. Nuance, the company which currently provides Apple’s speech back-end, is also Massachusetts-based. As is your friendly neighborhood correspondent himself. So maybe they’re moving in on my territory.
Locke to Chair Apple’s Academic Advisory Board (Watson Institute)
In other news related to surprise Apple teams, it seems that the company has created an advisory board for its Supplier Responsibility program. Composed of eight professors from a variety of prestigious schools, the board’s already been at work for six months; they’re charged with performing studies, conducting research, and making recommendations to Apple. Something tells me these guys are not going to accept “My dog ate my homework” as an excuse.
