It's raining sunshine

What do suede, leather, and high-tech plastics have in common? All these materials are featured in this week’s iPad-case roundup. This edition of new-case news includes a case that harnesses the power of the sun.

Coach

The Legacy Clutch (all iPad models; $168) is made from glove-tanned leather and sports a convenient wrist strap to ensure that you never lose sight of your iPad.

The case also features an turn-lock pocket on the outside and three credit-card pockets protected by a zip-top closure—plenty of space to carry everything you need in one high-class package.

Etsy

If you’re up for some handmade goods, the Golden Honey Suede (all iPad models; $70) is made to order based on your choice of materials and colors.

In addition to sporting a great design, the case keeps your iPad safely encased in soft suede, with a convenient clasp closure that ensures the tablet won’t slip out while on the go.

Griffin Technology

The Slim Folio (iPad mini; $40) is a one-piece folio case with a pebble-texture exterior and a soft, suede interior for a mix of protection and style.

The front of the case, which comes in four different variants, doubles as a viewing or typing stand in landscape orientation.

Gumdrop Cases

The Drop Tech Series Sleeve (iPad 2, 3, and 4; $25) offers the company’s trademark protective capabilities in a convenient package that protects your iPad with shock-absorbing corners and a generously-padded, textured exterior.

The case, available in black with blue accents, features a convenient zipper that keeps your hardware secure during transport. There’s also room for a cable and some other accessories.

Higher Ground

The Protex (iPad 2, 3, and 4; $40) sports an ergonomic x-strap that allows you to confidently grasp and transport your tablet with a single hand.

The case’s raised front bevel helps protect the iPad’s screen from inadvertent drops and scratches, while the front-facing sound channels redirect audio toward you for louder volume.

iBackFlip

The TabKeeper 360 (all iPad models; $55) features a convenient strap and can be quickly converted from a carrying bag to a sling-style shoulder bag, allowing you to use your iPad while you’re on the go without ever having to physically separate from it.

Made from a weather-resistant ripstop material and sporting waterproof zippers, the case also provides plenty of storage for papers, cables, and accessories.

Targus

The Slim Case (iPad 2, 3, and 4; $49) is made from a high-end, textured material that’s water- and stain-resistant and offers improved grip. A soft interior helps protect your hardware from bumps and scratches. The case’s front cover, which is compatible with the iPad’s magnetic sleep/wake feature, flips around to double as a viewing and typing stand at multiple angles in landscape orientation.

The case, which also sports a convenient stylus holder, comes in white, pink, red, orange, blue, grey, or black.
