Through the looking glass

We have a bit of everything on tap for this week’s iPhone-case roundup, from the sporty to the elegant, from the functional to the beautiful.

Armorz

The Stealth Extreme Lite (iPhone 5 and 5s; $35) adds a 0.2mm thick pane of glass on top of your iPhone’s screen to protect it from bumps and scratches without significantly impacting its optical qualities—or your ability to use the handset’s touch interface.

The glass is tempered to prevent it from shattering, and treated using an aggressive chemical process that, according to the manufacturer, makes it harder than steel (though, presumably, a bit more transparent).

M-Edge

The Trina Turk Snap (iPhone 5c; price unavailable) is made from tough polycarbonate to provide excellent protection from everyday accidents. A raised front lip keeps your screen safe when the phone is placed face-down.

The case comes in four different motifs and color combinations: Santorini Navy, Garden Maze Green, Soleil Orange, or Trellis Blue.

Naztech

The Klass (iPhone 5 and 5s; $20) is made from premium synthetic leather and covers both the front and back of your iPhone, providing three slots for cards or some cash.

Available in black or brown, the case also features a convenient snap-on closure to keep everything safe while on the go.

Otterbox

The Preserver (iPhone 5s; $90) can withstand immersion in up to 6.6 feet of water—and drops onto a hard surface from just as high—without causing your iPhone to suffer any ill effects.

The case comes in black, grey/pink, grey/lime green, or grey/white.

Slickwraps

The Case Real Metal (iPhone 5 and 5s; $25) features a diamond-cut, aluminium backplate wit textured rubber sides for excellent grip and protection.

The case comes in silver or gold, and it also includes a removable vinyl insert that covers the unused portions of your handset’s front plate.

STM

The Grip (iPhone 5c; $20) sports a soft finish and grippy texture that make using your handset comfortable and safe—in addition, of course, to keeping it safe from bumps and scratches.

The Grip comes in blue, green, clear, black, or red.

SwitchEasy

Boo! Just in time for the scariest holiday of the year, SwitchEasy has launched the Halloween Melt (iPhone 5, 5c, and 5s; $25), a special edition of its popular dual-layer case that feature a black-and-orange theme.

The case, which includes an anti-static screen guard, is built to offer an excellent grip while still sliding easily in and out of your pocket—perfect for a hectic night of trick-or-treating with the kids.

Trident

The Aegis (iPhone 5c; $35) combines shock-absorbing silicone with a hardened polycarbonate shell to provide lightweight protection from bumps and scratches.

The case, which also comes with a complimentary screen protector and a features a handy lanyard loop, is available in black, blue, pink, red, or green.

X-Doria

The Defense 720º (iPhone 5c; $35) combines transparent front and back covers with a rubberized bumper to form a comprehensive package that protects every square inch of your handset from bumps and scratches; that bumper also increases your grip.

The case’s bumper comes in grey, blue, pink, or yellow.
