Grabbing and organizing pictures of computer screens is a huge part of my daily workflow. SnapNDrag Pro (Mac App Store link) simplifies both the screenshot and organization processes and as a bonus, tracks annotations you make to your images.

You have several options for capturing objects on your screen. First, SnapNDrag’s main window offers five buttons for the type of capture you want to create: Selection, Window, Screen, and Timed, all of which lets you select the interval at which you want the shot taken; and a More button that takes shots of your last selection, window, or the Dock. As is the case with most screen capture applications, you can assign a keyboard shortcut for any one of these buttons to invoke the app when you want to capture something on the screen.

Every shot you take is displayed in the SnapNDrag window, which also allows you to create folders for further organizing your screenshots. Items within the window can be renamed individually or you can select several images and use SnapNDrag’s Batch Rename feature to give a name and sequence number to every image. Likewise, you can select one or several images and use SnapNDrag’s Share button to post your pics to Twitter, Facebook, or Flickr or send them using email, AirDrop, or Messages.

What makes SnapNDrag a standout are the app’s support of multiple screens with separate Spaces, and annotation of original images when you open them within the SnapNDrag app. The former allows you to take screenshots on screens or Spaces that are not on your default display, which, sadly, is something not supported with most screen capture applications. The latter opens Preview for image editing, no matter what your default image editing application is, and allows you to revert to the original when your annotation work is done.

Smart and simple to use, SnapNDrag is a superb screen capture app.
