Apple is stepping up its social media game with a much-needed new Twitter account: @AppleMusicHelp.
It’s a little concerning that Apple needs a dedicated support account for its streaming service, because ideally it would be easy enough to figure out without a lot of hand-holding, but Cupertino has finally recognized that its mash-up of iTunes and streaming libraries has confounded some people. Now if you have questions that need an immediate answer, you can turn to Twitter instead of the Apple support forums or email.
According to Apple, the @AppleMusicHelp account (which has been verified by Twitter so you know it’s legit) will be staffed by a support team from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time.
Many of the early complaints being tweeted to @AppleMusicHelp deal with iTunes Match mix-ups and subscription billing issues, but it turns out people have all kinds of questions about the streaming service. If you have a specific problem, make sure to take a screenshot so you can send a direct message with the full details.
Why this matters: Apple is in full Music promotion mode, with billboards and new TV commercials featuring Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, and Taraji P. Henson. The company recently added guided tours of Apple Music features, like how to make a playlist. Again, these are things that really shouldn’t require step-by-step instructions, but at least the information is out there.
