4-Sight Fax v6 boasts 5x speed boost, more

Soft Solutions Inc. on Wednesday introduced 4-Sight Fax v6.0. The company plans on shipping the new Mac OS X fax server software in the first calendar quarter of 2005. New features in 4-Sight Fax v6 include an up to 5 times speed improvement in many operations, automatic fax notifications and support for Apple's Address Book application.

Load times on a 2GHz Power Mac G5 have gone from 18 to 3 seconds, according to Soft Solutions. What's more, a 1,000 page fax broadcast takes one-tenth the time to queue and begin dialing out compared to version 5.1. Other new features in version 6 include expanding the server address book for 20 fields (compared to 4 in the current version), automatic program update notification and installation, concurrent connections to multiple fax servers, planned support for Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger," improved cover page editor and much more.

Soft Solutions will release 4-Sight Fax v6.0 as a public beta release in late December.
