Hitachi rolls out new projectors

Hitachi America has announced two new Mac compatible projectors, the CP-X430W and the CP-X990W.

The US$10,995 CP-X430W weighs just nine pounds and combines 2,500 lumens of brightness and native XGA resolution for bright, vivid images. The projector also features vertical and horizontal keystone correction and a user-programmable start-up screen for flexible installation and a customized look. HDTV capability and anamorphic 16:9 aspect ratio are also among the features packed into the unit, according to Pete Denes, director of sales for Hitachi America, Computer Division, Multimedia Presentation Products.

New to the CP-X430W is a switchable IR receiver for the remote control, designed to help users avoid interference caused by some high frequency fluorescent lighting. The CP-X430W features such connectivity options as: component, composite and S-video inputs; two RGB inputs and one DVI input.

Both projects feature Hitachi's Whisper Mode, which lets you reduce their noise to near-whisper levels, with a minimal reduction in brightness, Denes said. The CP-X430W operates at 36 decibels in Whisper Mode, reduced from 40 decibels in standard mode.

The $12,995 CP-X990W is a new portable projector that boasts 3,500 lumens and multiple video inputs, including a DVI port. It features Hitachi's Motion Adaptive Progressive Scan technology and native XGA resolution along with a 500:1 contrast ratio. And the CP-X990W, like the CP-X430W, offers an anamorphic 16:9 aspect ratio and HDTV-compatibility. It also has vertical and horizontal keystone correction and multiple inputs that includes composite, component, S-Video, RGB and DVI. Not enough? Okay, the projector also features a user-programmable start-up screen and picture-in-picture option for further customization.

Both units will be demonstrated at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2002 show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 8-11.
