Daystar upgrades iMac G4s to 1.35GHz

Daystar Technology has announced a CPU upgrade for 700 or 800MHz flat panel iMac G4 systems to make them run at up to 1.35GHz. The upgrade uses Freescale Semiconductor’s 7457 CPU, and features 512KB Level 2 cache. The upgrade costs US$548 plus shipping.

The installation includes a 20 point checkup and Daystar’s own warranty. The upgrade is 100 percent compatible with existing application and operating system software: It works with Mac OS 9.2 through 10.4.x, and supports dual-boot systems. Included is the XLR8 MAChSpeed Control software to tweak performance, according to Daystar.
