MWSF: Spring Cleaning 8 rounds up images, music, more

Allume Systems on Monday announced its new Spring Cleaning 8.0 clean-up utility for Mac OS X. The new version of the software makes its debut at this week’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco. It costs $49.99.

Spring Cleaning helps users clean up the content of their Mac OS X hard drive, organizing and de-cluttering the system, performing routine maintenance, cleaning out unnecessary files, unwanted applications and more.

New to this release are more than a dozen new features, like the ability to find all stray images and import them to iPhoto, burn them to a CD-R, rename them and more. You can do the same with music files and iTunes, as well.

Archive Finder helps you locate archives; Widget Finder can install new Dashboard widgets or uninstall unwanted ones. The Universal Slimmer tool can determine whether your Mac is PowerPC or Intel-based, and strips out the unneeded code.

You can also use Spring Cleaning to rename any file, burn files to a CD or DVD or compress JPEG images using StuffIt compression. There’s much more, too.

Upgrades from previous releases cost $29.99. System requirements including Mac OS X v10.3.9, QuickTime 5.0 or later and iPhoto 5.
