Fox Sports to offer college bowl games via iTunes

Fox Sports on Wednesday announced plans to offer for the first time digital distribution of full length American college football Bowl Championship Series games through iTunes and other online video download services, including Amazon’s Unbox, AOL Video, CinemaNow and Instant Media. The downloads will begin on Dec. 28, 2006.

The games include the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the FedEx Orange Bowl, the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game. This marks the first time that Fox Sports has made downloadable content available on the Internet.

Most full-length games will be available for download within 24 hours of a game’s completion. Fox Sports will also produce “Short-Cuts” and “Best of the Bowl Bash” highlight programs at a reduced price.
