New iPod cases made of recycled vinyl records

Contexture Design has introduced new protective cases for Apple iPods made of old 7-inch vinyl records. Contexture calls then “45,” referring to rotation speed of vinyl singles, and they cost $45 each.

The cases fit 20GB to 80GB iPods and are made from thermoformed vinyl records, felt padding of 40 percent recycled fibers, cork and a plexiglas window. The center of each case’s record has been positioned to fit around the iPod’s click wheel. There are also openings for the dock connector and headphone jack.
