Sprint to offer EV-DO Rev. A card for MacBook Pros

Novatel Wireless on Tuesday announced that their Merlin EX720 ExpressCard will soon by available from U.S. cell phone service provider Sprint. The card will cost $179.99 with a two-year service agreement and it’s expected to ship in late February.

The Merlin EX720 ExpressCard fits the ExpressCard/34 expansion slot on the side of Apple’s MacBook Pro laptops, and works with Mac OS X v10.4 or later (as well as various versions of Windows). It sports a dual-band flip-up antenna

It provides average download speeds of up to 600 Kbps - 1.4 Mbps and average upload speeds of 350-500 Kbps when working in areas that Sprint has upgraded with EV-DO Rev. A capabilities. The card is bundled with GPS software that also helps users find nearby locations.
