Free SXSW MP3s

It’s become a tradition that artists participating in the yearly Austin-based South-by-Southwest music and technology conference allow their music to be shared with those who have the desire (and patience) to download it. This year is no different.

If you’d like a taste of the artists performing this year, travel here and grab the torrent file that acts as the key to obtaining 739 free MP3 files (yes, that’s about 3.05GB of music).

Our online managing editor, Curt Poff’s copy of Azureus spent the better part of three days completing the download. I was much luckier. There are now lots of people seeding these tracks and I was able to download them in just over two hours.

If you like great music—and, better yet, great free music—check it out. I’ve found this to be a great resource for discovering new bands and, later, purchasing more of their music from iTunes.
