Aspyr ships Sims Pet Stories for Mac

Aspyr Media on Monday announced that it has begun shipping to retail outlets its Macintosh conversion of The Sims Pet Stories, a standalone game set in the world of The Sims. It costs $29.99.

The Sims is EA/Maxis’s legendary strategy game series in which you help simulated people — Sims — go through their lives, making friends and having relationships and careers, making families and decorating homes, visiting new locations and more.

The Sims Stories is an ancillary line of standalone games based on the same premise, but with a more focused design. The Sims Pet Stories has you train, play with and care for your Sims’ cats and dogs. Two different stories let you play through different challenges. There’s an open-ended “Freeplay” mode that lets you play with more than 70 different dog and 30 different cat breeds.

The Sims Stories is less resource-intensive than the full The Sims 2 game, so Aspyr bills it as “laptop friendly.”

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4/1.0GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 3GB disk space, compatible with Intel GMA 950 graphics on MacBook and Mac mini.
