iPod FM transmitter scans, finds best frequency

Belkin on Tuesday introduced the TuneBase, a new FM transmitter for the iPod that will be released in mid-October, 2007 for $89.99.

Drivers who depend on an FM transmitter to let their iPod music play through their vehicle’s stereo suffer a common problem: Finding an FM frequency free of interference from which to let their FM transmitter broadcast from. The TuneBase solves this problem using “ClearScan” technology, which automatically scans the FM dial and locks on to the best available frequencies.

The TuneBase features a line-out connector for using with a car stereo input or cassette adapter, if you prefer, and it comes with multiple cradles to fit everything from the iPod touch through the iPod mini. The device also sports a built-in cigarette lighter adapter that charges the iPod when it’s in the base, and uses a flexible neck to enable you to reposition the device.
