Ambrosia releases WireTap Studio audio recorder, editor
Ambrosia Software has released a new application called WireTap Studio. The utility helps users record and edit audio from any application, system audio, or input from any microphone, line-in or audio input hardware.
While recording audio sources on the Mac may not be new, WireTap Studio features two significant advances — LivePreview and the audio editor.
WireTap Studio’s audio editor allows you to edit audio in a very easy to use interface and completely lossless. The application records a lossless master of each recording, so if you decide later you want to increase the bitrate, you can just do it.
LivePreview gives you the option to change formats and bitrate on-the-fly so you can actually listen to the changes and see what the difference is between an MP3 and an ACC recording. Ambrosia said that LivePreview is a patent-pending technology.
WireTap Studio costs $69 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Licensed users of WireTap Pro (excluding OEM bundled versions) can upgrade for $30. Competitive upgrades are also available from the company’s Web site.
