Beatport Sync debuts, for DJs

Native Instruments and DJ music download service Beatport on Thursday introduced Beatport Sync, free music playback software for Mac OS X and Windows. The software is available for download now, either from Native Instruments’ Web site or from Beatport.

Beatport Sync is made for DJs — in fact, it’s based on Native Instruments’ Traktor DJ software. The software lets users mix and match individual tracks to create a continuous flow of music. It features beat detection, tempo synchronization and loudness optimization.

The software also features track management capabilities, such as tag editing options, archiving features and iTunes and iPod integration. Beatport Sync can play, browse, catalog and back up music files found on connected storage devices, including MP3 players, USB sticks, cell phones and PDAs.

Beatport, a digital music download service especially created for DJs and fans of club music and electronic music, is integrated into Beatport Sync as well. Users can access the online store without having to open a window in their browser, and can pre-listen, download and play tracks from Beatport’s catalog. You can also preview tracks in-sync with each other or with any music in your library.
