If you’re a Mac user there’s every chance in the world that you have a copy of iTunes on your computer. And if you’re any kind of iOS device owner, you certainly do. After all, it’s the primary avenue for playing and syncing your Mac’s media.
In this edition of the Macworld Podcast we turn to iTunes and one of its foremost experts, Kirk McElhearn. In our interview he discusses iTunes’ strengths, weaknesses, hidden talents, suitability for classical music enthusiasts, and future.
A year ago, our dear friend Rob Griffiths left his cushy job as a Macworld Senior Editor to go out on his own, co-running an independent Mac developer called Many Tricks. How's the transition been? What has he learned from crossing the line and going to the other side? What did he learn from Mac OS X Hints that has helped him support Many Tricks customers? I talked to Rob to find out.
Though April first has passed, there never seems to be a shortage of foolishness. And because there isn’t, I’ve invited the Macalope to return to the podcast to discuss his Fools of the Year piece from late last week. In last week’s podcast, some of us discussed the 100 Things Every Mac User should know. Regardless of your Mac skills, you’re sure to learn something new.
Our April 2011 issue features a cover story on 100 things every Mac user should know. That article is the focus of this week’s podcast, as several contributors to the cover story talk about the tricks and shortcuts that separate veteran Mac users from beginners.
I’m joined by Macworld executive editor Dan Miller, who put together the April 2011 feature, as well as editorial director Jason Snell and senior editors Dan Frakes and Christopher Breen, who provided some of the tips you’ll find in the issue.
Last week was all about the iPad 2. But the release of the latest iPad wasn’t the only trick Apple had up its sleeve. Additionally, the company rolled out an updated version of iMovie for iOS devices as well as a completely new app for iPads, GarageBand. I start by discussing some of the points from my GarageBand for iPad review. Jeff Carlson then joins me to talk about his review of iMovie for iOS devices.
The iPad 2 doesn’t arrive in stores in the U.S. until Friday. But we’ve posted our in-depth review of Apple’s newest tablet, and Jason Snell, the man who spent all that quality time with the iPad 2, joins us in this week’s episode of the Macworld Podcast.
