PhoneValet enhances call screening, recording

by Peter Cohen, MacCentral

Parliant Corp. on Thursday updated its PhoneValet Message Center (PVMC) software to version 2.1.6. The free update for registered users allows you to select the audio output device when screening messages as they are being received. Performance has also been improved when processing long (hour or more) call recordings.

PhoneValet Message Center is a USB interface paired with software that turns the Mac into what Parliant calls a "telephone communications hub." You can use PVMC to screen calls, keep logs of inbound and outbound telephone calls, record calls and act as an answering machine. It's also AppleScriptable and can be used in conjunction with X-10 remote control modules and more. PhoneValet Message Center is priced at US$199.95.
