Giga ships 2GHz processor upgrades

Giga Designs has announces the new G-celerator AGP 7A series, a CPU upgrade for some Power Mac G4 models that can run at up to 2.0GHz. The upgrade uses a Freescale 7447A processor with 512KB Level 2 cache running at full processor speed. The upgrade includes a firmware updated and the "GigaMeter" speed and processor ID extension. The upgrade ships from the factory set for 1.6GHz but has been tested at up to 2.0GHz. It costs US $499.

Compatible Power Mac G4s include the "Sawtooth" G4, Gigabit Ethernet, QuickSilver and QuickSilver 2002 systems. The upgrade requires Mac OS X v10.3.5 or later and is Mac OS 9.2.2 compatible.
