Kerio MailServer 6.1 adds Tiger support, more

by Peter Cohen, MacCentral

Kerio Technologies Inc. on Monday announced the release of Kerio MailServer 6.1, a new version of its mail server software designed for the SMB (Small to Medium-sized Business) market. The new release adds support for Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger," synchronizes with Apple's Address Book and iCal software and improves integration with Microsoft's Entourage software.

Features in Kerio MailServer include e-mail, contact and group calendar management. Other new features in Kerio MailServer 6.1 include support for Sender Policy Framework (SPF), Spam Repellent and dual anti-virus scanning. SPF is a method of e-mail domain authentication to help cut down e-mail security problems. Spam Repellent reduces the likelihood of spam and e-mail virus spreading by inserting a delay in the SMTP handshake -- this causes a virus or spam-sending computer to give up its connection attempt.

Kerio MailServer costs US$499 for 20 users. It runs on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows operating systems.
